Seeds, Seedlings or Clones

When growing hemp, farmers have 4 paths to choose from: seeds, seedlings, clones or tissue culture. Trilogene Seeds offer all three options and we can help our farmers choose the best path for their operation.

Seeds:

Seeds are generally more widely available to farmers worldwide. Many farmers choose the direct seeding method which we suggest for autoflower varieties, others may have the internal infrastructure to germinate their own seeds. Trilogene seeds are feminized and go through rigorous testing for purity, germination etc. Seeds have not been exposed to poor growing environments or go through the perils of shipping live plants. It is important for farmers to keep in mind that seeds take time to germinate and gather strong root structure so the entire growth cycle takes a bit longer when direct seeding. We highly recommend farmers follow the proper vetting procedure when choosing their seed provider to ensure they are receiving the highest quality genetics.

Seedlings:

Trilogene Seeds offers all of our genetics in seedling form. This provides a great opportunity for farmers who lack the infrastructure to germinate their own seeds. Seeds are planted to germinate about 4 weeks before the plant date. Farmers are expected to have infrastructure to hold their seedlings as well as the proper transplanting equipment. Seedlings have a formed root structure and can be directly planted into the field. Having sprouted plants in the field may offer some comfort to farmers who face early spring weather.

Clones:

Clones are a cutting from a mother plant that is in vegetative state, it is then rooted and ready for planting. It gives farmers an exact genetic copy of that plant including the sex, which guarantees an all female crop to begin with. Clones save time for farmers by not having to wait for seeds to germinate. As identical genetic copies of the mother plant they will carry the same size, taste, and productivity as the plant in which it comes from. Trilogene Seeds offers a large selection of clones to our farmers, we suggest placing orders for clones as soon as possible.

Tissue Culture:

Tissue culture is a way to obtain a clean cutting, similar to a clone. The biggest difference between tissue culture and a clone is the ability to pathogen index a tissue culture cutting. When a clone gets passed around from grower to grower, it can inherit many problems including pests & pathogens. A clone will also degrade in quality over time with potency results affected.

Our tissue culture offerings are pathogen indexed 4 times a year to guarantee a very clean start, similar to starting from seed. All in all, everyone can benefit from tissue culture and it will be a supporting cast in our seed production in the future.

Trilogene Seeds has a clone, seedling, tissue culture or seed for every farmer out there. Let us know more about your region and overall operation and we will gladly help you choose the right path.
